What camera do you use?

“That’s a great photo, what camera do you use”?

This is a question I am asked quite frequently. But it’s not about the camera and its capability.

I am sure you’ve heard all this before, but contrary to popular belief, the camera doesn’t make the image. YOU do. You don’t need to upgrade your equipment just to run with the big dogs, and top-of-the-line gear isn’t carte blanche to the photographer’s Hall of Fame.

So be proud to carry your favorite camera into the field. As long as you know what all the buttons do and have a grasp of fundamental principles, you’ve got everything you need to take an awesome photo like the wedding photograph below, taken with a Canon M3, fixed 22mm lens, point-and-shoot.

I have to be ready to take photos instantly. That’s when l capture the moments at a wedding that just happen. I love this photo of the wedding bride after the ceremony taken as she walks down the stairs at the Blackwell Grange hotel. You can just tell she is having so much fun.

After the wedding ceremony, the wedding couple could not wait to get into the bumper car at the local fun fair in Helmsley town center.

Outdoor wedding at Gt. Ayton

The wedding took place at a venue near Great Ayton, North Yorkshire and what a lovely day it was too. The sun was shining for the ceremony which took place outdoors in the countryside surrounded by trees and open fields. Guest sat on hay bales to witness the bride & groom make their wedding vowels. After the formalities, I took loads of posed photos of the happy couple with the Cleveland Hill as the backdrop.
